Mario (マリオ Mario) is the main antagonist of Idol Land PriPara. He is a dark idol who shows up out of the blue in DanPri, and calls himself the "Demon King". His true identity is shrouded in darkness. His catchphrase is "I'm locking you all down!!" (お前ら全員、ロックだぁ！！), and his preferred brand is FullMetal Rabbit.
Appearance
Mario has brown skin and light plum colored hair, styled in a messy short style. He has red eyes, long eyelashes, and bushy eyebrows. He also has little fangs on his teeth. He wears a leather jacket, boots and pants set, with tons of buckles, rhinestone belts, and chains. He has a black choker with chains attached. He also has a glove accessory on his left hand with blades attached to the fingers. He is almost never seen without his gimmick electric guitar. Sometimes, he has his purple patterns on his skin, other times he does not. This is most notable in his cyalume change, where they glow and appear.
Personality
Mario is a highly individual person who has a rebellious personality. This can be reflected in his body language, his informal speech (e.g. calling Meganii an "old man/uncle" (おっさん)), and his habit of saying "I couldn't care less!" (どーでもいいぜ!, dou demo iize!).
Mario has a King-complex, as he calls himself the "Demon King", and refers to himself as "Oresama" (おれさま).
Relationships
Amari Katasumi
His design comes from Amari's idol notebook. When Amari was in middle school, she had a chuunibyou phase where she acted like a dark idol, Mario in real life to protect herself from embarrassment and being lonely. After being born from a ripped page from said notebook in Danpri, Mario materialized and became real. He shows affinity towards Amari, often asking to "fuse" together to become their ultimate self, "Amarion". He always welcomes Amari with a happy face, and kindness, though Amari typically does not reciprocate.
Etymology
Mario (マリオ) is the Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese form of the Latin Roman name "Marius", which is derived possibly from the Roman god of War, Mars or from the Latin root mas or maris meaning "male".

Trivia
- He is the first male idol to have a known preferred brand, which is FullMetal Rabbit.
- He has a rabbit form that he transforms into when he’s embarrassed (Like hears about his strawberry pants) , and cannot turn back into his humanoid form for a whole day.
- He sports strawberry boxers.
- Mario reads Pripara magazines to get information on idols.
- Mario's Birthday falls on February 29th, which is the same day as Amari's, making them Pisces.
